Captain Alain Richard holds a long-term master's certificate in addition to a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Laval University and a Diploma of Collegial Studies in Navigation from the Institut maritime du Québec. With more than 35 years of experience, Captain Richard has extensive maritime experience as a captain on various types of vessels, teaching at the Institut maritime du Québec, and a researcher and project manager at Maritime Innovation, where he notably distinguished by developing software to reduce the fuel consumption of merchant ships through the use of tides and finally director of the Institut maritime du Québec. He has served as Chairman of various boards, including the Institute of Ocean Sciences (ISMER) and Maritime Innovation.
